Program Changes

At Fifth Third, we're constantly looking for ways to improve the Real Life Rewards program to better serve our customers. Based on direct customer feedback, we have made substantial improvements to Real Life Rewards that will make the program easier to use than ever before.

The three main changes are:

  1. "Single Sign-On" access to Real Life Rewards. This means that you can now manage your points and redeem for rewards by signing in one time to Fifth Third Internet Banking and clicking on the Real Life Rewards button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. You will no longer need to sign in to www.fifththirdrewards.com to access your rewards.
  2. All customer points will now be automatically combined. See below for more details on combining points.
  3. The Real Life Rewards website has been completely redesigned with improved navigation and ease of use; the option to combine points with cash to earn rewards faster; a real-time travel tool that allows you to book travel rewards instantly; the option to auto-paydown a Fifth Third Bank mortgage; an improved gift card selection including lower prices on most cards; and the reintroduction of merchandise rewards.
The new Real Life Rewards website will be easier to use and will require fewer points for some rewards, like gift cards.
All benefits will remain the same, except for the expiration timeframe which is now 3 years.

Points will now expire based on the date and year of your account opening or rewards program enrollment. All points earned during a single year will expire in 3 years on the day prior to the anniversary date of your account opening or program enrollment.

For example, if you opened your Employee Rewards Card on June 1, 2013 and then earn 6,000 points between June 1, 2013 and May 31, 2014; all 6,000 points will expire on May 31, 2016.

Simply select your destination and the website will automatically tell you the number of points needed for air, hotel or car rental.
Yes, we've added more brand-name restaurants.
Yes. Now automatic redemptions to pay down a Fifth Third Bank Mortgage are available for all rewards customers. Log in to Internet Banking on 53.com and click the Real Life Rewards button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Yes. We've expanded our catalog so you can redeem for more items like travel, merchandise and retail/restaurant gift cards.
Yes. If you find that you are short in points and you'd like to redeem for a particular item, many of the catalog items are now eligible for partial pay. If the item is eligible, the partial-pay slider will appear at checkout.
Yes. Now you can easily set up automatic redemption into a Fifth Third Mortgage. Simply enter the required information and check the box to get started. You can stop automatic redemption at any time.

Employee Pilot

On the new Real Life Rewards website. Simply log in to Internet Banking on 53.com and click on the Real Life Rewards button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
The new website will be available through 53.com Internet banking on Monday December 9.
Until January 10, please continue to access your rewards the same way you do today—by logging in to www.fifththirdrewards.com.
From January 10 – January 12, 2014. During this time, you will be unable to manage your points or redeem for rewards.
Only employees and co-applicants selected for the pilot.
Employee Rewards Cards that do not earn Business Rewards or are part of the Homeowner Plus Value Package were selected for the pilot. We hope that employees selected for the pilot will provide us with feedback so we can make improvements for the full launch in March 2014 by providing feedback on this website.
No. Your employee rewards, including any rewards from a co-applicant or authorized user of your employee card, have been moved to the new Real Life Rewards website.
The pilot consists mainly of Employee Rewards Cards. However, if you or your Employee Rewards Card co-applicant have other rewards-earning products, we've move these over to the new website for you too. This way all of your points will automatically be combined.
Customers will receive a direct mail notification in February that the website is changing on March 24, 2014.
Any rewards-earning products opened prior to November 25, 2013 will be included in the pilot and can be accessed on the new website beginning January 13, 2014. Rewards products opened November 25, 2013 or after can only be accessed using the old website (www.fifththirdrewards.com) until the full rollout on March 24, 2014.

Combining and Transferring Points

You no longer need to request a points transfer in order to combine all of your points. Almost all rewards-earning product points will be automatically combined (Joint checking account holders with a World Debit card will continue to see separate points).You will also be able to see how many points you've earned by each product by logging in to the new Real Life Rewards website.
Yes. An applicant and co-applicant will share the earned points on a credit card. They have equal rights to redeem these points.
Yes. An applicant and authorized user will both contribute points to the rewards account. However, the authorized user will not be able to redeem the points.
No. At this time, debit card points are not shared at the DDA co-signer level.
No. At this time, World Debit MasterCard® points are not shared at the DDA co-signer level.
Yes, but points may only be transferred to and from accounts included in the pilot.
Points are now automatically combined between the applicant, co-applicant/signer and/or authorized user. Points that were combined together on the old website for anything other than these conditions can no longer be combined together.
It can take between three and five days from the time you make a purchase to the time points are posted on your account.

About the Real Life Rewards program

Simply log in to Fifth Third Internet Banking on 53.com and click the Real Life Rewards button on the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Retail and restaurant gift cards, airline tickets, car rentals, hotel stays, merchandise, MasterCard® gift cards. You can also use your points to pay down your Fifth Third Bank Mortgage (with the option to turn on/off auto-paydown) or Fifth Third Bank Loan. Or you can have cash rewards deposited into a checking or savings account, or request a check.
On or after January 13, 2014, simply log in to Fifth Third Internet Banking on 53.com and click the Real Life Rewards button on the upper right-hand corner of the screen. You can also call 1-800-449-2142.
Since the new website automatically combines all of your points together, we hope you'll find no need to transfer your points. In the event that you need to transfer points, please call one of our Rewards Service Center representatives at 1-800-449-2142 to assist you. Remember, during the pilot (1/13/14 through 3/24/14) you can only transfer points between pilot accounts.
Except for the Cash Rewards Credit Card, there is no limit to the number of points you can earn. The Cash Rewards Credit Card will continue to limit the Everyday Spend Bonus (2 points for every $1 spent on gas, groceries, and discount store purchases) to $2500 in purchases each quarter.
Yes. You can continue to earn 10% cash bonus, up to $25 per year per rewards customer, for Goal Setter and 529 Savings Account redemptions.
No. If you would like a credit card that comes with rewards, you will need to apply for the card.
The Rewards Service Center can help you with any rewards related questions you may have from point balances to redemption questions.
New Terms and Conditions were included in the notification mailing. Full Terms and Conditions are always available at the bottom of each page on the Real Life Rewards website.

Jan. 10-12
Access to Real Life Rewards will be temporarily unavailable starting at 12:01 a.m. on January 10 as we transition to the new website. The website will be available again on Monday, January 13.
